Homes are being built smaller and as a knock on effect your average bedroom is also getting smaller and smaller. In many areas across the world room is running out and in an effort to cram ever more people into an ever decreasing space the solution seems to have come in the form of simply making things smaller.
Unfortunately even though you can make the houses smaller the people and their possessions will be staying the same size. Even if laptops are getting smaller and more compact the never ending cycle of consumerism will inevitably lead to the purchasing of pointless space-consuming items that will more than make up the difference.
It's infuriating for me to see beds that aren't storage beds - simple as. When you want to store clothes you buy a wardrobe, one that's usually as tall as the ceiling. Why do you buy one that's tall? Because you can fit more things into it. Yet the bed, the one piece of furniture in the bedroom that has by far the largest area is also the squattest and most wasteful item.
Full storage beds are beds that are raised a few feet of of the ground with drawers for storage underneath. By utilizing just a few small feet of room under your bed you're actually creating wardrobes worth of space when you consider the vast surface area of a bed.
So next time when you need to buy a new bed, do yourself a favor and buy a full storage bed or one that isn't space-wasteful but space-productive!
